This fruit butter is a finely pureed mixture of two favorite autumn fruits: crabapples and damson plums. Both petite fruits possess a rich tartness, and in combination they create a vibrant burgundy preserve. This compote boasts a firm set and, unlike other jams, is thoroughly homogeneous, making it ideal to spread in a thick layer on toast! Of course, we daydream about it slathered on French toast for a special chilly morning brunch, and it would be stunning on a cheese plate -- but most of all, we can't wait to dollop this generously on potato pancakes!
